Insurance

Before you refer a patient to Dr. Edwards, please explain to them that he is not a contracted provider with any managed-care or insurance company panel. He accepts a reduced fee only for a select group of patients. This is explained below. Please ask the patient to check with their managed-care organization or insurer regarding reimbursement for services Dr. Edwards provides. Payment is usually required at the time of the initial examination. Newly referred patients often cancel or fail to appear for their appointments after hearing this. Most managed-care organizations contract with qualified psychiatrists who are available to subscribers at reduced fees.

Medication Management

After a thorough initial psychiatric examination Dr. Edwards will provide medication management services if indicated. If you are a psychotherapist, providing psychotherapy services to the patient, Dr. Edwards will ask you and the patient to sign an agreement outlining expectations, roles and responsibilities of the respective parties.

Please contact Dr. Edwards by telephone before you make the referral. Please be prepared to describe the case briefly and tell Dr. Edwards what you and the patient expect of him.
